Key Findings — October 2026
Portable ACs average £407 — ranging from £15 to £2,250.7
The UK portable air conditioner market spans budget evaporative coolers under £40 to premium 16,000 BTU heat-pump units over £600. The sweet spot for a quality 9,000–12,000 BTU unit is £250–400. During heatwaves, prices can jump 20–40% as stock evaporates.
Stock availability is brutally seasonal
Right now, 63% of tracked products are in stock. This number typically drops below 40% during summer heatwaves as demand spikes. Portable ACs are the worst-hit, with only 45% currently in stock.
Tower fans are the most consistently available — 67% in stock
Unlike portable ACs which sell out fast, tower fans maintain higher stock rates year-round. They're the reliable fallback — and at £30–80, the price-to-comfort ratio is hard to beat.
Dehumidifiers show the least price volatility
At an average of £76, dehumidifier prices stay remarkably stable — unlike ACs, demand is driven by damp (consistent) rather than heat (spikey). The £90–150 range covers most UK homes.
