Humidifiers have a dirty secret: most of them end up in a cupboard. Not because they do not work, but because filling them is a faff. You carry the tank to the sink, turn it upside down, spill some, wipe the floor, and by week three you have stopped bothering.
The Neo 450S fixes the part that kills most humidifiers. It is a 4.2 litre bedroom humidifier for when the heating is on and you, or the children, wake up with a dry throat, and it is easy enough to live with that it earns its place on the chest of drawers. We have been testing it in different rooms around the house.

You fill it from the top
Lift the lid and pour water in from a jug or a bottle. No carrying the tank to the tap, no flipping it over, no puddle. An open top also means you can get a cloth inside to clean it, which matters more than it sounds.

It looks at home in a bedroom
Simple shape, nothing fussy, nothing that looks like a piece of lab kit. We have moved it between rooms around the house and it has not looked out of place in any of them.

You set a number and walk away
In the VeSync app you pick the humidity you want and set a schedule in a couple of taps. That is the whole job; the app does not ask any more of you than that.

It is consistent
No dropouts or app disconnects so far, and it does what the app says. With something that runs overnight, that reliability is what you are really paying for.

Quiet enough for a bedroom, on paper
Levoit rates it at 21dB, around the level of a whisper. That is the maker's figure, not ours: we have not put a meter on it.
